Boyd Rice
19 Episodes
Boyd Rice's remarkable journey in the Western performance horse industry exemplifies a fusion of natural talent, hard work, and familial support. From a young age, Boyd was surrounded by accomplished professionals within the Rice family, including his father Sonny, uncles Raymond and Ronnie, cousin Tag, and brother Matlock, all cutting horse trainers. Despite this heritage, Boyd's success was not a given; it required dedication and perseverance. Under his father's tutelage, Boyd learned the intricacies of horsemanship and began showing in youth cutting contests at the age of 7. Following high school graduation, he married Halee Reed, a ranch-raised cowgirl, and embarked on a journey that saw him transition from ranch work to operating a public training stable in Spearman, Texas. Over the years, Boyd's reputation for producing well-broke horses steadily grew, culminating in his relocation to Fort Worth, the heart of the NCHA. Alongside his wife Halee and their three children—Tatum, Tarin, and Trea—Boyd cultivated a family-oriented approach to business, intertwining their love for horses with their solid family values. Today, their legacy continues as their children follow in their footsteps, contributing to the family's success while upholding their cherished values both in and out of the show pen.
